Summertime is made for warm evening walks, patio dinners, road/camping trips or staycations, lake swims, and lazy days at the beach, but most of all, for slowing down and enjoying it.
Get fresh, local fruits and vegetables for your next meal, take a little extra time to prepare your dinner, perhaps with the help of your partner, kids, or friends. If dinner runs late, no biggie- the sun sets around 9 p.m., and summer evenings on the patio are the best. Freshly picked produce somehow always tastes better. Nothing compares to the aroma and flavour of a garden tomato or local peaches from a fruit stand or farmers’ market.
We follow the same “fresh” philosophy in our wine and cider-making: top-notch grapes, picked and crushed within hours, to capture all these flavours.
Our 2025 wines all show an intense, fruit-forward profile, and the newly released 2025 Riesling (100% Estate) is no exception. Bernd (owner, viticulturist, and winemaker) drew on his intuition and 30+ vintages of experience to craft another standout Riesling for 8th Generation. Give it 10 minutes in a decanter to reveal its aromatic beauty. No aerator pls as it will strip flavour.
The new cider is equally exciting. Enjoy this one from 2025- made entirely from our Ambrosia apples! Also Estate fruit, as our apple orchard is right beside the vineyard.
In 2025, all of the vines bounced back, and winemaking kept us busy. But we haven’t forgotten how cider carried us through a tough year, so we’ve made the decision to continue and craft one cider each year.
Honestly, I’m not sure who first decided to swap marshmallows with cheese, but I’m forever in their debt! Savoury s’mores are so much better than the traditional version… click & keep reading; it’s worth it! My absolute fave is a slice of fresh peach, some brie, all wrapped in prosciutto (and some Riesling to sip along).
PS: Easy to pre-prep for your next camping outing or backyard get-together.
Open daily from 10:30 – 5:00 PM (last tasting at 4:30)
We look forward to seeing everyone- feel free to stop by with friends, family, partners, kids, or your pets! Check online hours. The tasting experience is set up as a one-on-one, where we share updates about our wines and ciders, changes big and small, and what’s new for the growing season.
We’ve partnered with a wine agency to distribute our wines throughout BC. Your favourite 8th Generation wines are now closer than ever! We’ve also expanded the selection of 8th GEN wines to Save-On-Foods stores. Check for the wine store near you.
A typical wine-tasting moment: a guest begins with, “Unfortunately, I don’t know anything about wine,” and I always wonder… why do you think you need to know wine to enjoy it?
Honestly, hardly anyone worries about drinking the “wrong” wine; most people stress about choosing the wrong one. So, they trust the reviews, the sommelier, the award, the price, or their friends- anyone except the person who knows their taste best: themselves!
I’ve never seen anyone apologize for loving their favourite chocolate, beer, pizza, cheese, or ice cream, yet people do it with wine all the time.
The bottom line is: you don’t need to understand wine to enjoy it. You only need to trust your own taste!
PS: And just like with your favourite pizza, taste changes slowly over time- which is perfect. Otherwise, we’d all still be eating KD, cheese pizza, and vanilla ice cream…
Will we see you this summer in SUMMERLAND?
Thanks for supporting your local, family-run & family-owned BC winery.
Cheers, Stefanie, Bernd and the awesome tasting room crew.
