WHY IT EXISTS: The second harvest from our replanted estate vines—young vines, old family. A German Pinot Noir clone: loose clusters and mixed berry sizes provide lots of airflow, which keeps the grapes clear of the diseases Pinot Noir is so known for. The Heartbreaker grape is under control and produces top-notch quality for us. Then, twelve months in French oak barriques (30% new), because Pinot rewards patience and punishes showing off.
IN THE GLASS: Lapin cherry, raspberry and gentle spice; elegant but not fragile, with fine tannins, real texture and a smooth, lingering finish.
AT THE TABLE: The classics are lamb and duck, but this is a Pinot with range: tuna steak, mushroom risotto, goat cheese and spinach salad… even truffle popcorn, if the evening's going that way.
