WHY IT EXISTS: Our most understated wine, and the one that converts white-wine loyalists. Beaujolais-style: five to seven days on the skins, then pressed off and finished in stainless steel—no oak, minimal tannin, maximum fruit. The trick is in the serving: always chilled, like a rosé. An unexpected red. We knew these approachable, chilled, trendy lighter reds from Europe and wanted to introduce them here. We have fantastic West Coast cuisine, and now we have the perfect wine for it! Plus, Stefanie likes tacos and needed a bolder rosé - it’s a good thing to have a winemaker as a husband.
IN THE GLASS: Ripe cherry, black currant, plum and haskap berry, bright and bursting, with a firm-but-friendly structure and a long fresh finish.
AT THE TABLE: Barbecue, picnics, spicy takeout, big salads. Friday night on the deck, and frankly, it makes an excellent winter hot-tub wine. Also the best sangria base you'll ever be too fond of to put in sangria.
